A new ‘Godfather’ is coming. “Connie,” a new novel authorized by the Mario Puzo estate, written by best-selling Italian American author Adriana Trigiani, will be released in fall 2027.
“Connie” will tell the story from the female perspective, Don Vito’s only daughter. Paramount now has the film rights, which has some wondering if Francis Ford Coppola, 87, would be tempted to direct a fourth ‘Godfather’ movie.
So, THR asked Coppola’s team to comment on his willingness to direct another film in the Corleone saga. it’s “unlikely,” a rep for the filmmaker tells the trade.
It’s not like Paramount would want to entrust Coppola with a high-budget project after “Megalopolis,” no matter how ingrained the filmmaker’s name might be stamped to the franchise. He’s currently still in pre production on his next film, “Glimpses of the Moon,” in Italy.
