With two well-received feature films to her name, Kitty Green, director of “The Assistant” and “The Royal Hotel,” is setting up her next project, which is eyeing a shoot later this year.
Vanessa Kirby and Lewis Pullman will co-star in Green’s sci-fi thriller “The Spacesuit,” with HanWay Films launching international sales at Cannes. The film is described as offering a “timely and provocative new perspective” on space exploration.
Written and directed by Green, “The Spacesuit” centers on an astronaut (Kirby) who faces an impossible choice after a troubling incident involving her co-pilot (Pullman) leaves a lasting mark on the mission in the days before launch, setting off a race against time.
Casting Kirby, who received an Oscar nomination for “Pieces of a Woman,” is a strong draw. Her recent credits include “The Fantastic Four,” “Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning,” “Eden,” “Napoleon,” and “The World to Come.”
