And just like that, Ryan Gosling has exited Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert’s upcoming untitled action sci-fi comedy. It’s slated to shoot in early summer, and that’s apparently still the plan.
According to Deadline, the film secured a California tax credit and production could not move its planned start date. This created a scheduling conflict with Ryan Gosling, who is finishing work on the upcoming “Star Wars: Starfighter” (which apparently will have reshoots this summer?) Because the timelines didn’t align, he was unable to take part in the Daniels project.
So, the film is back to square one with no cast attached. We still don’t know the plot, and it doesn’t even have a title yet. It’s disappointing that Gosling won’t be involved, as his acting style seemed like it could have paired well with the directing duo.
