Last year, Michael Bay vehemently denied rumors that he was going to direct a “Skibidi Toilet” movie, and that’s despite several reports earlier suggesting otherwise.
Bay, looking laid-back and alone in a spacious room, pointing to a table covered in scripts, addressed the rumors directly via Instagram:
“These are a whole bunch of movies right now. One is in serious prep, one is in soft prep, one I’m writing, one getting ready to produce—or two to produce—but there’s not one in that little pile that says ‘Skibidi,’ so let’s just stop the lore right now. OK. You heard it from me.”
Well, Puck’s Matt Belloni is now reporting that Bay is definitely developing …a “Skibidi Toilet” movie.
Word is that Paramount Pictures President Adam Goodman and Bay are collaborating on ‘Skibidi.’ Goodman believes the project has the potential to become “the next ‘Transformers’ or could be a Marvel universe.”
For those not familiar, Skibidi Toilet started in 2023 as a YouTube video by Alexey Gerasimov, featuring a head emerging from a toilet and singing—which somehow set the internet on fire. What followed was a series of quirky videos depicting a war between Toilets and Cyborgs, complete with explosions (naturally, this is where Michael Bay comes in).
This latest development comes only a few months after Bay quit—or was fired, we’re not really sure—from the Will Smith-starring “Fast and Loose,” produced by Netflix. The duo apparently couldn’t come to terms creatively on the film, which has since been shot by Bay’s replacement, John Swab.
Bay, who specializes in on-screen mayhem, hasn’t directed a film since 2022’s “Ambulance,” starring Jake Gyllenhaal, which, no pun intended, bombed at the box office with a $22M domestic haul. He’s in talks with Paramount for a return to the “Transformers” franchise—for a potential reboot or sequel, we’re not entirely sure. Over at Universal, he’s supposed to direct “OutRun,” starring Sydney Sweeney, based on the classic arcade game.
