Here’s Puck’s Matt Belloni reporting that Emma Mackey, aka Ella McCay, has dropped Nancy Meyers’ rom-com, budgeted at $100M+, seemingly titled “Paris Paramount,” at Warner Bros.
No reason was given for the sudden exit, but with the film just weeks away from starting production, the studio is now searching for an actress to replace Mackey. The rest of the cast remains intact, including Kieran Culkin, Jude Law, Penélope Cruz, and Owen Wilson.
If you remember, this is the same project Netflix balked at when Meyers demanded a $150M budget, which led her to Warner Bros., where the studio managed to cut production costs by roughly $50M.
The upcoming film recently set a Christmas Day 2027 theatrical release, marking Meyers’ first time behind the camera in 11 years. Her last film, also backed by Warner Bros., was the Anne Hathaway– and Robert De Niro–starring comedy “The Intern” (underrated!).
