‘Fast and the Furious 11’ Dated For March 2028 Release — Titled ‘Fast Forever’

January 30, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

After endless delays, Vin Diesel just announced that “Fast & Furious 11,” which is titled “Fast Forever,” will hit theaters on March 17, 2028.

A recent report, via The Wall Street Journal claimed ‘Fast 11’ didn’t even have a completed script, and that most of the cast hadn’t signed any deals. Furthermore, Universal wasn’t even certain it wanted another instalment—at least not unless Diesel and crew could slash about $140M from the budget compared to ‘Fast X.’

Here we are, eleven films, $7.3 billion in global grosses, and suddenly the brand is’t what it used to be.

Hey, the numbers don’t lie. ‘Fast X’ was the lowest-grossing entry in over a decade at $705M worldwide—and also the most expensive, ballooning past $300M. According to the report, the last draft of “Fast X: Part 2” was too pricey, and still needed about $50M in cuts to even make it happen.

‘Fast X’ collapsed under Diesel’s watch, with longtime director Justin Lin walking away mid-shoot over “creative differences” with Diesel. Louis Leterrier stepped in, but not before the budget went spiraling out of control.

The timeline for ‘Fast 11’ has been a mess. Diesel once swore the next chapter would hit in 2025. Then Leterrier claimed 2026. At FuelFest, Diesel doubled down, announcing April 2027. Now, we’re supposed to believe 2028 is the confirmed date.
