Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross recently collaborated with Luca Guadagnino on his last three films, “Challengers,” “Queer,” and “After the Hunt,” but they will not be back for his next project.
Blur’s Damon Albarn is working on the soundtrack for “Artificial,” Guadagnino’s upcoming film centered on Sam Altman. The OpenAI CEO is portrayed by Andrew Garfield. The cast also includes Monica Barbaro, Yura Borisov, Cooper Hoffman, Jason Schwartzman, Ike Barinholtz, and Mark Rylance. The script is written by Simon Rich, and the film is described as a “comedic drama” set in the world of artificial intelligence.
“I’m working on the film’s soundtrack,” Albarn told Uncut magazine about “Artificial.” “I sing a few songs, I’m writing electronic music, and accompanying orchestral music.”
Guadagnino’s film, shot last year, reportedly has a $40M budget and is being described as “The Social Network” for the AI generation. Set against the backdrop of OpenAI’s meteoric rise, it is expected to chronicle the personal rivalries, ego clashes, and ethical tensions behind one of the most consequential tech revolutions of our time.
