The future of big-screen comedy is looking slightly brighter with the announcement of Kristen Wiig (“Bridesmaids”) joining Jonah Hill in “Cut Off” — a new Warner Bros. feature set to hit theaters July 17, 2026.
I first exclusively reported on this project back in March, when Jennifer Lawrence was attached to the role that has now been handed to Wiig. Hill is still set to direct the film.
“Cut Off” has Hill and Wiig portraying wealthy siblings who suddenly find themselves cut off from their parents’ financial support, forced for the first time to navigate adult life on their own.
Hill, stepping behind the camera as director for only his third feature after “Mid90s,” and the still unreleased “Outcome,” also co-wrote the script with Ezra Woods and will co-lead alongside Wiig. Production is slated to begin this fall.
