Telluride World Premieres Include ‘Springsteen,’ ‘Hamnet’ and ‘Ballad of a Small Player’

The 52nd Telluride Film Festival has officially dropped its lineup, and as usual, it’s a mix of world premieres, Venice/Cannes holdovers, and potential Oscar bait from some of cinema’s more respected filmmakers.

There are no big surprises. The major titles predicted are showing up. Leading the charge as world premieres are Chloé Zhao’s “Hamnet,” Edward Berger’s “Ballad of a Small Player,” and Scott Cooper’s “Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere.”

Venice alumni hitting Telluride include Yorgos Lanthimos’ “Bugonia,” Noah Baumbach’s “Jay Kelly,” Laura Poitras’ “Cover-Up,” and Paolo Sorrentino’s “La Grazia.”

Other highlights: a Richard Linklater double-header with “Blue Moon” and “Nouvelle Vague,” Cannes is heavily featured: Joachim Trier’s “Sentimental Value,” Jafar Panahi’s “lt Was Just an Accident,” Kleber Mendonça Filho’s “The Secret Agent,” Harris Dickinson’s “Urchin,” Kelly Reichardt’s “The Mastermind,” Oliver Hermanus’ “The History of Sound,” and Rebecca Zlotowski’s “A Private Life.”

The fest is set to take place Aug. 29–Sept. 1. The full lineup for the 52nd Telluride Film Festival is below.
