Filming on “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” is officially underway this week in Glasgow, Scotland (via ScreenDaily).
It also looks as though Glasgow will mimic the look and feel of New York City, complete with American flags draped across the city’s architecture. According to the reports, filming will continue in the Scottish city from late July through mid-August.
Returning to the role, Tom Holland once again suits up as Peter Parker/Spider-Man. The film marks the first ‘Spider-Man’ outing directed by Shang-Chi helmer Destin Daniel Cretton. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon are expected to reprise their roles, while Sadie Sink (“Stranger Things”) has joined the ensemble.
Sony has set up a July 31, 2026 release date for ‘Brand New Day,’ but will that date stick? Holland has another movie opening two weeks earlier, and it’s not just any movie, it’s Christopher Nolan’s “The Odyssey,” which is sticking to that date since IMAX 70mm tickets have already gone on sale for that epic.
Holland arriving in Glasgow for ‘Brand New Day’ might mean that Nolan’s ‘Odyssey,’ which is shooting in Morocco, is winding down and in its final days of production. It’s been shooting for well over six months now.
‘Brand New Day’ follows on the massive success of ‘No Way Home,’ which raked in over $1.9 billion at the global box office in 2021. I’d be shocked if this latest Spidey doesn’t crack the billion dollar mark as well.
