‘Horizon’ Actress Has “No Clue” What’s Happening With Western Saga

May 5, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Kevin Costner’s ‘Horizon: An American Saga’ was originally envisioned as a four-part passion project — a grand, traditional Western epic unfolding over several instalments. However, after the underwhelming box office performance of Chapter 1, the fate of Chapter 2 — and the entire series — is now uncertain.

One cast member has even revealed that the actors themselves are unsure about the project’s current status.

In a recent conversation with Screen Rant, actress Isabelle Fuhrman, who portrays Diamond in ‘Horizon,’ revealed that she’s completely in the dark about what the future holds for the project.

No, I wish. I'm in the same boat as you. I really hope that we get to see the second one. I have no clue what Kevin's planning, but he's probably planning something.

How rare is it that a film, which was the #1 most watched title on all of streaming in January, has a sequel shot and ready to go, but little to no movement in terms of releasing it.

With ‘Horizon—Chapter 2’ still unreleased, and Costner still looking for money to film the last two instalments, there’s only one possible solution left here: Netflix should pick up the entire ‘Horizon’ saga.

Back in July, I reported that Netflix had actually made an offer to Costner. The streamer was willing to get in the Yellowstone/Western game by partially helping to fund ‘Horizon’ chapters 3 and 4. Costner had originally declined the offer, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s now changed his mind.

At this point, the well has dried up, and Costner can’t seem to find the money, let alone a theatrical distributor, needed to shoot the next two films. Last summer, he had shot nine days’ worth of footage for ‘Chapter 3,’ but production had to be shut down due to lack of funds.

‘Chapter 2,’ which was pulled from Warner Bros’ schedule last summer, and cost $110M, did end up world premiering at the Venice Film Festival in September, albeit to weak reviews which further complicated matters for potential distribution. Netflix is now the only (and smartest) option for Costner.
