Lynne Ramsay & Ezra Miller To Reunite for New Vampire Film

Lynne Ramsay has never repeated herself, until now. For the first time in her career, the acclaimed Scottish filmmaker is set to work with a former collaborator, and the choice may raise a few eyebrows: Ezra Miller.

“I’m making a vampire movie,” Ramsay revealed in a recent interview with The Los Angeles Times. “It’s with Ezra Miller who was in ‘Kevin.’ He’s the main character. That’s in development.”

Miller famously starred in Ramsay’s haunting 2011 drama “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” and this new reunion suggests she’s aiming for another intense, possibly genre-defying exploration.

Despite being a towering presence in auteur cinema for over two decades, Ramsay has only directed five features: “Ratcatcher,” “Morvern Callar,” “We Need to Talk About Kevin,” “You Were Never Really Here,” and her latest, “Die My Love,” which just premiered in competition at Cannes.

She admits to being highly selective with her projects, often turning down work that doesn’t meet her creative standards. That was the case with a planned adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s “Stone Mattress,” which collapsed after logistical issues with shooting locations disrupted her vision. “I just don’t work like that,” she said, explaining that disjointed filming schedules hurt both her process and the actors.

That setback opened the door for “Die My Love,” brought to her by Jennifer Lawrence, based on the novel by Ariana Harwicz. The film marks Ramsay’s return to feature filmmaking after nearly a decade—and she promises it won’t be another long gap before the next one.

She currently has three scripts in development and is pushing to move faster. “You won’t wait for 10 years,” she told LAT. “I don’t have 10 years. I’ve got to do it quicker than that.”

If the vampire film moves forward with Miller, it could mark a bold new chapter for Ramsay—one where genre collides with her signature intensity. And given her track record, it’s safe to say it won’t be your average bloodsucker movie.
