As Mel Gibson’s “The Resurrection of the Christ” gears up for a September shoot at Italy’s famed Cinecittà Studios, the film has just found a distributing partner.
Lionsgate will be the home for Gibson’s ‘Passion of the Christ’ sequel, the studio announced on Thursday. They’re calling it, “for many, the most anticipated theatrical event in a generation.”
’Passion of the Christ,’ released in 2004, grossed $612M on a scant $30M budget making it one the most successful independently-financed movies of all time. Jim Caviezel is set to return in the role of Jesus. Is it a stretch to think that this one could set up a release date for Easter 2026?
Criterion's December lineup has some great additions to the library, but the title that jumped out at me is Werner Herzog's "Grizzly Man," which officially joins the Collection on December 8.
