Trailer for ‘Tron: Ares' Released

April 5, 2025 Jordan Ruimy

Here’s the trailer for “Tron: Ares.” The film is set for October 10, 2025 release in theaters, including IMAX.

It was announced at D23 that two-time Oscar winners Attic Ross, and Trent Reznor aka Nine Inch Nails would be scoring “Tron: Ares.” Not just, Jeff Cronenweth, who lensed early Fincher, is the Cinematographer.

Reznor/Ross are one of the most acclaimed film composers of the last decade, and that comes with being David Fincher’s go-to tandem on five films: “The Social Network”, “Gone Girl”, “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo,” “Mank” and “The Killer.” Their other non-Fincher credits include “Challengers” and the upcoming “Queer.”

Daft Punk was responsible for the sound of 2010’s “Tron: Legacy,” directed by one Joseph Kosinski, and I can’t think of a better duo to replace them than Reznor/Ross. This should be a great score. Whether it’ll turn out to be a great film is a whole other story.

Meanwhile, Cronenweth is also a Fincher alum, although he hasn’t worked with the filmmakersince 2014’s “Gone Girl.” His notable credits include “Fight Club,” and “One Hour Photo.”

“Tron: Ares” is the third film in the ‘Tron’ sci-fi franchise. Norwegian filmmaker Joachim Rønning will be replacing Kosinski as director — his credits include “The Young Woman and the Sea,” “Maleficent: Mistress of Evil” and the fifth ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ movie. Not promising.

The “Tron: Ares” cast includes Jared Leto, Jeff Bridges, Greta Lee, Evan Peters, Hasan Minhaj, Jodie Turner-Smith, Arturo Castro, Cameron Monaghan and Gillian Anderson. The plot is said to “follow a highly sophisticated Program, Ares, who is sent from the digital world into the real world on a dangerous mission, marking humankind’s first encounter with AI beings.
