Here’s our second teaser for “Avengers: Doomsday,” which has been playing before “Avatar: Fire and Ash” since Friday.
This one centers on Chris Hemsworth’s Thor as he kneels in a forest, offering a prayer to his late father, Odin. It also briefly shows tender moments with his adopted daughter, Love, including a scene where he kisses her goodnight.
This latest release makes it clear that Marvel is continuing its strategy of debuting new trailers exclusively in theaters on Fridays before making them available online the following Tuesday. The third one, hitting theaters this Friday, will involve the X-Men with Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, Ian McKellen’s Magneto and James Marsden’s Cyclops all seen.
A fourth trailer is rumored to focus on the Wakandans and the Fantastic Four.
Whether one is excited, or not, to catch ‘Doomsday’ this time next year, you gotta admit this is primo marketing on the part of Disney. They’ve somehow gotten all the fanboys, who were slowly distancing themselves from the MCU, back in the fray and excited for yet another ‘Avengers’ movie with these weekly teases.
Quite honestly, I don’t blame Disney for doing this. They’re trying to build hype. ‘Doomsday’ cost anywhere between $400-$500M and is coming on the heels of a struggling MCU, which has seen its stock dwindle over the past few years. This film’s success will determine the fate of the entire MCU.
The official ‘Doomsday’ synopsis has Doctor Doom entering the MCU, wielding science, sorcery, and Robert Downey Jr.’s return to Marvel. The rest of the announced ensemble is Marvel’s biggest collection of capes and contracts to date, stretching from Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man to Ian McKellen’s Magneto to Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards.
“Avengers: Doomsday” hits theaters on December 18, 2026.
