Osgood Perkins’ next film just got a major star-power boost. Nicole Kidman has joined Perkins’ “The Young People,” joining previously announced stars Lola Tung, Nico Parker, Heather Graham, Johnny Knoxville, and Tatiana Maslany.
Production started last month in Vancouver. A 2026 release is currently being eyed by Neon. While plot details are largely under wraps, I reported this synopsis back in August:
“The Young People” follows Sue, who befriends a new classmate named Kitty. At first, everything seems perfect, but soon Kitty begins to behave strangely, and troubling red flags emerge.
Kidman has built one of the greatest filmographies of any female actress, of hers or any other generation. The acting credits she has amassed over her four-decade career can barely be matched by anyone: “To Die For,” “Eyes Wide Shut,” “Moulin Rouge,” “The Others,” “The Hours,” “Dogville,” “Birth.”
This is set to be Neon and Perkins’ fourth straight collaboration. Whether you like him or not, Perkins isn’t slowing down. The man is on a frenetic pace, shooting a film every year—sometimes two a year. Perkins’ last film, “Keeper,” his second release this year after “The Monkey,” is slated to hit theaters on Friday. The review embargo still hasn’t lifted, and the film itself has only been sporadically screened for critics.
