Tim Miller is back. The man has only directed two films in his career, had his last one creatively interfered with by James Cameron, and was kicked out of another by Ryan Reynolds. The man needed to catch a break.
That break has come in the form of a package set to star Keanu Reeves (via THR). It’s titled “Shiver,” and has just been acquired by Warner Bros. Ian Schorr (“Infinite”) wrote the script, which has been described as a hybrid of “Edge of Tomorrow” and “The Shallows.”
Word is the story centers on a shady smuggler who gets caught in the middle of a deadly double-cross during a job in the Caribbean, leaving him surrounded by bodies, hostile mercenaries, and circling sharks. Soon after, he finds himself trapped in a lethal time loop and scrambling to break the cycle.
I would venture to guess that Reeves plays the smuggler. No production start date was mentioned in the report.
Reeves is coming off two box-office disappointments this year: “Ballerina” and “Good Fortune.” He has two releases slated for 2026 — Jonah Hill’s “Outcome” and Ruben Östlund’s “The Entertainment System Is Down.” He also has three other projects in the works, including “Constantine 2,” “BRZRKR,” and an untitled thriller reuniting him with Sandra Bullock.
Miller was recently dragged into the Blake Lively–Justin Baldoni court battle. What Ryan Reynolds did to Miller on “Deadpool 2” has been written about ad nauseam, and you can bet Miller — no doubt while under oath — will tell his side of the story. If you remember, Reynolds decided to creatively interfere on “Deadpool 2,” which caused Miller to abruptly quit the movie.
Meanwhile, Miller’s last film, “Terminator: Dark Fate,” saw the filmmaker infamously clashing with producer James Cameron during production and post-production. Cameron called their battles in the editing room a “bloodbath” with “many disagreements.” He went on to add that “the blood is still being scrubbed off the walls from those creative battles.”
