Hiro Murai is set to make his feature directorial debut with the Japanese samurai film “Buishdo,” produced by A24 (via Deadline).
Murai previously directed most episodes of FX’s acclaimed “Atlanta”; his other credits include “Mr & Mrs Smith” and Childish Gambino’s “This Is America’ music video.” He’s long been looking for the right script to make his feature length debut, and seems to have finally found it in “Bushido.”
Although plot details are currently being kept under wraps, the film is being described as a high-stakes action film set against the backdrop of feudal Japan. “Bushido” was written by Henry Dunham (“The Standoff at Sparrow Creek”), and is set to start production next year.
