I rarely write about movie posters, unless they’re either god awful or so good that attention must be paid to them. The one just released for Bong Joon-ho’s “Mickey 17” falls into the latter category — it’s groovy.
We’re not entirely sure what the tone of “Mickey 17” will be; the U.S. trailer relied more on comedy, whereas the Korean trailer felt much more serious. This poster might be hinting at the former. Regardless, the footage we’ve seen of Robert Pattinson, and the whiny voice he uses, can be described as totally wacky.
Earlier this year, Bong’s $150M sci-fi film had its release date delayed to a dubious January 31, 2025 slot. It was originally Bong’s wishes to premiere this one at Cannes, but Warner Bros decided to schedule it into the dumping grounds of January. Release it in December, you goddamn cowards!
