‘Mission: Impossible 8' is Still Filming, $300M+ Budget — Trailer Coming in the “Next Few Weeks"

October 14, 2024 Jordan Ruimy

On March 23, 2022, THR reported the beginning of principal photography on ‘Mission: Impossible 8.’ Here we are, 20 months later, and many delays, the film is still being shot in the UK.

The good news is that, according to my sources, a first trailer and title reveal for ‘Mission Impossible 8’ should be coming in the next few weeks. It will definitely be attached theatrically to “Gladiator II.” There’s a lot riding in this one for Paramount.

The last instalment, 2023’s “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One,” was so expensive that, despite it grossing $567M worldwide, the film resulted in losses of more than $200M for Paramount.

‘Mission: Impossible 8’ restarted production in March 2024, after last year’s strikes halted shooting on the movie in mid-July. There’s been a lot of delays with this one, and more bad luck recently occurred on the film when it was reportedly delayed yet again due to a malfunction while filming with a $25M submarine.

Director Christopher McQuarrie has stated that, before the strikes, around 40% of the movie had been shot, and that they were done location shooting in Africa and the Arctic. He also added that the biggest and most complicated sequence of the film had yet to be shot.

Back in June, Paramount retitled and reshuffled “Mission: Impossible 8” from its original June 2024 release date to May 23, 2025. Delayed by a full year … THR added that the film was also going to be dropping its original title ‘Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part II’ for an unannounced new one.

Belloni recently reported that the budget on ‘Mission: Impossible 8’ was “running well over $300 million in production costs” and that it would go much higher in coming weeks and months.
