It turns out the romcom is still alive.
All a studio has to do is pair two beautiful leads, set them in a beautiful location, and et voila! Not rocket science, it seems. In 2022, we had similar success with Julia Roberts and George Clooney’s “Ticket to Paradise.”
“Anyone But You,” a $25 million R-rated rom-com, starring Glenn Powell and Sydney Sweeney, has passed the $100 million mark at the box-office. This is truly an incredible success. The film garnered very mixed reviews, but it didn’t matter to audiences.
Many thought this film would die a quick death at the box office, but it turns out to have had some major legs. Yes, and I did finally watch it — cliched and corny are some of the words that come to mind, but, at this point, I’ll gladly watch Sydney Sweeney reading the phone book.
