Andrew Haigh’s ‘Strangers’ Set for December 22nd Release

August 7, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

We finally have an update on this one.

Andrew Haigh’s new film has been retitled “All Of Us Strangers” and has also set up a December 22, 2023 release date, via Searchlight. A first look image, above, has been unveiled.

Last October, Haigh completed production on ‘Strangers.’ The 50-year-old filmmaker, riding high off his last three critically-acclaimed films (“Weekend”, “45 Years,” “Lean on Pete”), has assembled a ‘Strangers’ cast that includes Paul Mescal, Andrew Scott, Claire Foy and Jamie Bell.

Here’s the synopsis:

“Strangers” follows Screenwriter Adam (Scott) who, one night in his near-empty tower block in contemporary London, has a chance encounter with a mysterious neighbor (Mescal) that punctures the rhythm of his everyday life. As they start getting closer, Adam is pulled back to his childhood home where he discovers that his late parents (Foy and Bell) are both still alive and look the same age as the day they died over 30 years ago.”

There were some predicting this one for Venice, but it was a no-show when the lineup got announced. It could be a late addition to TIFF, otherwise, a BFI London premiere is practically sealed.

Haigh premiered his last film, “Lean on Pete,” at the 2018 Venice Film Festival. It is rather strange that it didn’t appear there. The film has been in the can for almost a year now.

TIFF is supposed to announced additional titles in the coming weeks, maybe this shows up there. NYFF is also supposed to announce its main slate this week.
