Jennifer Lawrence Goes Full Frontal In “No Hard Feelings”? Reviews Are Bad.

June 21, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

“No Hard Feelings” just had it’s embargo lift and the reviews are middling — 50% on Rotten Tomatoes, 55 on Metacritic. However, you do expect critics to not be on-board a middlebrow comedy such as this one, so this isn’t much of a surprise.

Still, what a downer to hear and read all of these numerous disappointed reactions. I’ll be watching “No Hard Feelings” tonight. If it’s any good then I’ll write something about it.

I was looking forward to watching a rare R-rated comedy release. The film seems to be a total wash. In fact, that R rating is, supposedly, deceiving. Until it isn’t …

Jennifer Lawrence supposedly agreed to do full frontal nudity in this movie. That’s not a body double. With movies like “Red Sparrow” behind her, Lawrence has always been comfortable with her body on screen.

The scene in question involves J-Law going skinny dipping. Then some teenage frat punks come along and steal her clothes. Lawrence races out of the water, and fights these three punks naked. The scene isn’t supposed to be sensual, Lawrence is naked and pile-driving college kids into the sand. Sounds chaotic.

The upcoming comedy is projected to open with a very light $10 million tally this weekend. I’ve been looking around at what the budget might be for this film, but the only, tenuous, number I could find was $70 million.

Regardless, $10 million is very low for a film with a star like J-Law. She’s clearly not the draw that she once was. Comedies need good word of mouth to get some legs at the box-office, I’m tempted to believe that this one won’t have that kind of luxury.
