Villeneuve’s ‘Dune: Part Two’ Has A New Trailer …

June 29, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

Another trailer, this one meatier, for Denis Villeneuve’s “Dune: Part Two.” It’s also our first look at Christopher Walken as The Emperor. Word of caution, they show way too much of the plot here, so if you want to go into this film with a fresh set of eyes then skip this trailer.

I wrote about ‘Dune 2’ on 04.27.23:

“Dune” isn’t a film for everyone, it encompasses a ton of world building and character development set within a desert-filled sci-fi world.

With that being said, it sure was an improvement on David Lynch’s botched 1984 adaptation. Villeneuve’s vision drives the whole thing forward. The actors are just his chess pieces here. The problem I had with “Dune” is that it ended just as things started to get dramatically interesting.

This second part is said to be a more action-packed film, but more characters will be introduced, more tribes will be presented. I’m all fine with that but I hope it goes beyond just fan service and gets to the nitty gritty — which I presume it will.

“Dune: Part Two” will be rolled out in theaters on November 2nd. It won’t be at the Venice Film Festival, probably not Toronto either, it’s probably skipping festivals altogether.
