Isabelle Huppert Set to Star in Dario Argento’s New Film

October 9, 2023 Jordan Ruimy

During a press conference at the Lucca Film Festival, Isabelle Huppert announced that she will star in Dario Argento’s next film

Shooting was supposed to take place in Paris this past Spring, but, according to Huppert, Argento fractured his femur during a fall and this injury delayed production. Here’s Huppert in her own words:

“Dario is a major filmmaker […] I am happy to finally be making this film with him. He’s such a strange and original artist, but I cannot say too much about this project”

This is said to be a loose remake of a classic 1940s Mexican film. We’re not really sure which film it is, but I assume we’ll be getting more details as pre-production starts to ramp up.

Argento is indeed legendary thanks to his Giallo style of filmmaking which spawned classics such as “Suspiria,” and “Deep Red” in the ‘70s. Luca Guadagnino remade the former a few years ago, Argento, who was tagged in as producer, admitted the remake failed to “excite” him and added that l it felt more like a "betrayal."

Meanwhile, Argento’s last film, “Dark Glasses,” released last year, did not garner the kindest reviews. Argento hasn’t really made a good movie since 1990’s “Opera,” or a great movie since 1984’s “Tenebrae,” but a comeback is always more than welcome, especially when you decide to cast one of the world’s great living actresses.
