The Oscars and ABC Are Getting Very Desperate

March 17, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

Just to be clear, the biggest movie tune of 2022, “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” is not nominated for Best Song at the Oscars. Rather, Dos Oruguitas,” another song from “Encanto,” is nominated and will likely win the category (mostly because voters will probably think it’s ‘Bruno.’)

Of course, when you have a ratings-hungry Academy and your numbers are tanking so hard that they’re basically on life-support, then you ignore that “We Don’t Talk About Bruno” isn’t nominated and feature a live performance of it during the ceremony.

That’s what the AMPAS announced today.

While we’re at it, can we have Emilia Jones singing Joni Mitchell’s “Both Sides Now” from “CODA”? That would be much better than the “Bruno” song.

James Bond also turns 60 this year. The Godfather 50. There will also be tributes for both films at this year’s March 27th Oscar ceremony.

This just goes to show that the Academy could have probably included the 8 shunned tech categories in its broadcast instead of adding all of this pop culture stuff, but, again, it’s all about the ratings now and they’re tanking. And yet, regardless of all the changes being made, I just can’t see this upcoming Oscars ceremony getting any kind of big ratings.
