Jimmy Kimmel to Host 95th Oscars

November 7, 2022 Jordan Ruimy

An Oscar host has been found and it’s none other than Jimmy Ki … zzzz. Jimmy Kimmel. It’s Jimmy Kimmel. I guess Chris Rock declined the Academy’s invite.

A few years after donning blackface to impersonate Karl Malone and Oprah Winfrey, Kimmel somehow landed a humourless late night gig on ABC. He previously hosted the Oscars in 2017 and 2018.

I’m not entirely sure why the Academy would want Kimmel to host again if their goal is to improve ratings. Kimmel won’t do that, especially since he’s not shy about his political leanings and the main problem that the Academy currently has is that, at least, half the country doesn’t want politics mixed with their entertainment shows.

Kimmel’s 2018 hosting gig drew 26.5 million viewers the following year he was replaced by literally nobody, it was a hostless Oscars, and the ceremony ended up drawing 3 million more viewers.

Didn’t the Academy get the message? You can literally replace Kimmel with nobody and get millions more tuning in.
