The Five Best Gambling Movies of All Time

November 16, 2021 Jordan Ruimy

Are you looking for the best gambling movies? Look no further, because we got you covered. You can learn a lot by simply watching gambling movies, from body language to different strategies which you can use in real life. What's more, these movies can serve as a motivation for the gambling experience, whether you're going on a casino trip or gambling online. Speaking of the latter, if you're looking for first-rate online casinos, have a look at the Australian Casino Bros website where you'll find a well-established online casino that suits your needs. Finding a casino movie is a simplistic task, but not every one of them is worth your time. Still, there are some incredible gambling movies to choose from, and we have compiled the five best gambling movies of all time (in our opinion) just for our readers, so check them out. And don't worry, we won't spoil any of them for you.

Casino Royale (2006)

Casino Royale will most certainly keep all the gambling fans glued to their seats. It features the adventures of agent 007 aka James Bond (Daniel Craig) who tries everything in his power to stop Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelsen), a notable financier of terrorist organizations. After realizing that Le Chiffre wants to use his poker expertise to raise money for terrorism in high stake matches, MI6 sends agent 007 to beat him at the poker table. Casino Royale has it all - plenty of action, gambling, attractive women, and drama, which earned this movie a wonderful 8 stars on IMDb.

The Gambler (1974)

Although there is a 2014 remake of this film, we're talking about the original and better version from 1974. This gambling movie classic revolves around the exploits of Axel Freed (James Caan), an English professor in New York who's got a gambling problem. After scattering his money, he decides to borrow the money to fund his vice, and that's when swindlers and loan sharks get after him. This movie is proof that players should always gamble responsibly and they should never loan the money for gambling, or they'll find themselves in deep trouble, just like our main character Axel Freed did. The Gambler scored a solid 7.2 on IMDb, and it remained a cult movie even after more than 40 years.

The Cincinnati Kid (1965)

The Cincinnati Kid is a story about aspiring gambler Eric Stoner aka The Kid (Steve McQueen), whose intention is to defeat the world's best gambler called Lancey Howard, aka The Man (Edward G. Robinson). Regarded as one of the best gambling movies in history, this movie displays what casinos and gambling looked like before the introduction of modern luxurious casinos and online gambling, and it's set during a great depression era. The Cincinnati Kid also features outstanding gambling tactics, guns, non-stop action to keep the viewer's adrenaline pumping. If you're looking for an old-school inspirational movie about gambling, this one is perfect for you. It scored a solid 7.3 on IMDb.

Casino (1995)

The name says it all. This epic crime-drama film is directed by Martin Scorsese and features great Hollywood stars such as Robert De Niro, Joe Pesci, and Sharon Stone. Casino truly depicts Las Vegas behind the scenes, unlike it's shown in media. The main character (played by De Niro) Ace is an intelligent casino handler with ties to the mafia, who has to do a job for them. But when Nicki Santoro (Pesci) comes to Vegas, Ace's life becomes turbulent. Of course, a movie like this wouldn't be complete without a gorgeous woman, and that's where Ginger (Sharon Stone) comes to light. If you truly want to see incredible performances, action, drama, and lots of gambling, this movie will give you more than that. It's rated 8.2 on IMDb, and it has won many awards and an Oscar nomination.

Ocean's Eleven (2001)

Probably one of the most popular casino movies in history, and there are good reasons for that. It features superstars like Geroge Clooney, Julia Roberts, Brad Pitt, and Matt Damon, this only is a magical formula for a successful movie. It's a story about Danny Ocean (Clooney) and his crew who are targeting 3 Vegas casinos, and it's packed with action and gambling from start to finish. The film begins with the main characters facing off each other at Poker, and that's when things start to get more fun. Whether you enjoy gambling or not, this blockbuster can be watched by anyone, as it has many elements of a solid movie which is verified by its IMDb 7.7 rating.
