Jane Campion Says She ‘Hates' Superhero Movies

November 17, 2021 Jordan Ruimy

After Martin Scorsese, Francis Ford Coppola, Denis Villeneuve, Bong Joon-ho, Lucrecia Martel, David Cronenberg, Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu, David Fincher, James Mangold, Luc Besson, William Friedkin, Ken Loach, and John Woo … it’s time for Jane Campion to hop onboard the superhero hate train:

“I hate them,” Campion tells Variety. “I actually hate them.” Adding, “I think it’s safe to say that I will never do that. They’re so noisy and like ridiculous. Sometimes you get a good giggle, but I don’t know what the thing is with the capes, a grown man in tights. I feel like it must come from pantomime.”

On 10.26.21, I predicted Martin Scorsese may have started a revolution with his anti-Marvel comment, and I believe that is very much the case we’re seeing here with all these well-respected directors hopping on-board his bandwagon.
