David O. Russel's New Movie To Star Margot Robbie, Christian Bale, Robert De Niro, Michael Shannon and Michael B. Jordan

February 15, 2020 Theo Fisher

Yesterday saw a host of casting announcements surrounding the return of acclaimed director David O. Russell. With the last film in his catalog being 2015’s “Joy” starring Jennifer Lawrence, the Oscar-nominated director and screenwriter of the likes of “The Fighter”, “Silver Linings Playbook” and “American Hustle” has wasted no time in gathering a star-studded cast for his new project which, if rumors are to be believed, will start shooting this April.

Recent Oscar nominee Margot Robbie was the first to be announced, followed by Christian Bale. Unlike Robbie, this will not be Bale’s first time working with O. Russell, after the actor won the supporting actor Oscar for his work in “The Fighter”, and also received acclaim for his performance in “American Hustle”. The final announcement yesterday for the story, believed to revolve around the unlikely partnership of a doctor and a lawyer, is the supremely talented Michael B Jordan, who was last seen and praised for his work in Destin Daniel Cretton’s courtroom drama “Just Mercy”.

It also seems that he is not resting on his laurels with these huge stars, as IndieWire reports the director also has his sights set on Michael Shannon, Mike Myers, and of course, his long-time friend and collaborator Robert De Niro.

Very much a ‘watch this space’ type of situation, and one that many will have a keen eye on as this year in film continues to speed by.
