It’s very hard not to believe that Marvel is currently going through some kind of identity crisis. Between Jonathan Majors getting fired, “Blade” in constant turmoil, and the box- office disasters, we’re starting to wonder if they can actually bounce back.

Ever since Tuesday, I’ve been catching up with all of the Sundance 2024 titles. I’ll post a recap by Sunday. All of this to say that the award winners were announced this afternoon.

Last November, I had exclusively reported on a project that filmmaker Paul Greengrass was working on for Apple TV, titled “Lost Bus.” I had mentioned that this would be Greengrass’ next film.

Paramount+/Showtime’s wildly audacious “The Curse” has to be seen to be believed. It’s no doubt an uncomfortable watch, but it’s also one of the most daringly bold, absurdist and rule breaking shows ever put on on television. This is not hyperbole.

A casting notice is indicating that Richard Linklater’s “New Wave” will start shooting in Paris on March 4.

Focus Features has won the “Black Bag” sweepstakes. There was a bidding war going on for the film, involving, at least, four studios, but Focus eventually came out the winner in acquiring Steven Soderbergh’s spy thriller.

Amazon/MGM are already planning a wide theatrical release for the film, which has garnered strong reviews — 77 on Metacritic and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Norton who joins a cast that already includes Timothée Chalamet, Elle Fanning, Boyd Holbrook, Monica Barbaro and Nick Offerman.

We know that Cate Blanchett stars as the lead in Jarmusch’s film, but now we can also add Vicky Krieps (“Phantom Thread”) to the cast. Krieps and Blanchett were spotted on the set, which has now moved to Ireland.

I’m not entirely sure what Harmony Korine’s plans are as far as distributing his indescribable “Aggro Dr1ft.” Will it even ever get distribution?

Following “Air”, Matt Damon and Ben Affleck have decided to reunite, again, on the kidnapping thriller “Animals,” with Damon starring and Affleck directing. Netflix will be overseeing the entire project.

Almodóvar will be shooting “The Room Next Door” in March. The film, set in New York City, will be the filmmaker’s first full-length English-language film.

Cineuropa is confirming that Hungarian filmmaker László Nemes (“Son of Saul”) has found funding for his third feature, “Orphan”, set to be a co-production involving Hungary, France, Germany and the UK.

Guillermo Del Toro has confirmed that production has begun on his “Dr. Frankenstein,” which is being distributed by Netflix.

Jeff Sneider is reporting, via his excellent newsletter, that Christopher Nolan has reunited with Warner Bros for a “Tenet” re-release — the 2020 film will open on Friday, Feb. 23.
