Another big Sundance deal. Amazon/MGM bought Megan Park’s “My Old Ass” for $15 million. The film is said to be a crowd-pleasing coming-of-age story about a bright soon-to-be collegiate (Maisy Stella) who comes face-to-face with her older self (Aubrey Plaza) during a mushroom trip. Amazon/MGM are already planning a wide theatrical release for the film, which has garnered strong reviews — 77 on Metacritic and 100% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Still no distributor for "Bucking Fastard," "Alpha Gang," "The Last Photograph," "Closing Night," and "The Life and Deaths of Wilson Shedd." The issue seems to be quality more than a lack of willingness to buy.
