Fincher has had a few multi-year deals with Netflix, the latest one was supposed to end in 2024. Well, not anymore. Fincher is telling Premiere Magazine that the contract has been extended for another three years.

Glen Powell will star in “Huntington,” for A24 and Studiocanal. John Patton Ford, who helmed the surprise 2022 indie hit “Emily the Criminal” is on-board as director.

Netflix has confirmed to me that they will be giving “Hit Man” a limited theatrical showing the week prior to its June 7 streaming debut.

Pedro Almodóvar will be shooting his first full-length English-language feature in March. The film, set in New York City, is said to be about three female friends.

All Competition titles are world premieres with the exception of Aaron Shimberg’s A Different Man, starring Sebastian Stan and Adam Pearson, which premiered last night at Sundance.

Leonardo DiCaprio is set to star in the film, alongside Sean Penn and Regina Hall. While not confirmed, there have been a few other actors rumored around for this “ensemble” film, including Viggo Mortensen, and Rachel Taylor.

We haven’t heard much of writer-director Andrew Niccol lately. He‘s best known for his Oscar-winning “The Truman Show” script, but he’s also directed 2005’s underrated “Lord of War” and the great ‘90s sci-fi “Gattaca.”

Needless to say, the reviews out of Sundance for this one confirm the initial reactions from last Spring’s test screenings — forget about subtlety, this is a film that revels in going totally off the rails bonkers.

What’s next for filmmaker Debra Granik? She’s only directed three (great) films over the last 20 years — 2004’s “Down to the Bone,” 2010’s “Winter’s Bone” and 2018’s “Leave No Trace.” That’s too little for such a gifted filmmaker.

All a studio has to do is pair two beautiful leads, set them in a beautiful location, and et voila! Not rocket science, it seems. In 2022, we had similar success with Julia Roberts and George Clooney’s “Ticket to Paradise.”

The first big Sundance 2024 sell has arrived. “A Real Pain,” directed by Jesse Eisenberg, starring himself and Kieran Culkin, has gone to Disney’s Searchlight for a cool $10 million.

Another year, another film from the highly prolific, and definitely un-retired, Steven Soderbergh. His latest effort is a spookfest, titled “Presence,” starring Lucy Liu, Chris Sullivan, and Julia Fox.

We’re on Day 3 of the festival and, although it looks like a slow start, the main standout seems to be Jane Schoenbrun’s “I Saw the TV Glow,” produced by A24. The film is screening in the festival’s Midnight section.
