Dave Bautista Wants to Be Part of James Gunn’s ‘Suicide Squad 2’

I have to commend Dave Bautista for continuously pushing Disney to reinstate recently fired 'Guardians of the Galaxy' director James Gunn. His passion and persistence says a lot about the loyalty this man feels for his director. 

With the news breaking yesterday that James Gunn was going to write and possibly direct 'Suicide Squad 2' Bautista was at it again on Twitter, wondering how he could partake in the upcoming film:

“Where do I sign up!” the actor simply stated in a tweet. 

The trolling against Disney continues. Touché Mr. Bautista.

Official: James Gunn To Write and, Possibly, Direct 'Suicide Squad' Sequel for Warner Bros.

A few months ago, Over 200,000 people signed a petition for Disney to re-hire "Guardians of the Galaxy" writer-director James Gunn. However, this petition didn't change Disney's decision, it was quite clear he was toast. 

I predicted that DC would take advantage of this opportunity to pounce and try to sign Gunn to their now newly redesigned DCEU. But it's still shocking to hear today's news that Gunn will not only be writing "Suicide Squad 2" for DC and Warner Bros but is set to direct the sequel as well. 

A report courtesy of THR is saying that Gunn will indeed be heading from Marvel to DC:
"Gunn, who was fired from the third installment in his Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, has come on board to write, with an eye to direct, Suicide Squad sequel, the DC-based project at Warner Bros."

"Gunn has closed a deal to pen the script. At this stage, there is no director deal but talks could proceed depending on the outcome."

"Gunn was fired from his Marvel franchise after old tweets from 2008 and 2009 where he made insensitive and controversial jokes about topics like rape and pedophillia were resurfaced by conservative website The Daily Caller."

"Suicide Squad" had so much potential but turned out to be a very bad movie. With Gunn now at the forefront of the sequel, anticipation levels have just skyrocketed.

"World War Z" sequel to start production next year with David Fincher directing

After a lot of back-and-forths, it seems like David Fincher has finally settled on "World War Z 2" to be his next movie. The sequel to the 2013 zombie movie starring Brad Pitt has had quite the pre-production journey. Director J.A. Bayona was originally slated to direct. However, two years later Bayona left the sequel to go and direct to go and direct "Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom," which had many people suspecting the sequel was dead.  It was only last year that Pitt’s frequent collaborator director David Fincher was "in talks" to helm the anticipated blockbuster sequel. 

Variety has now confirmed Fincher as director, they spoke with producers Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner, who revealed that filming is now due to begin in June 2019. Fincher is currently directing the second season of his Netflix series "Mindhunter" and Pitt is in Los Angeles shooting Quentin Tarantino's "Once Upon a Time in Hollywood." Thus, the reason for the delays. 

Fincher hasn't directed a movie since 2014's "Gone Girl."

Despite Bad Reviews 'Venom' Has Bite At Box-Office, $80M Opening Weekend; 'A Star Is Born' Opens With Impressive $41M

"Despite a rocky road to release the strange off-brand start to the Sony Marvel Spider-man Without Spider-Man Cinematic Universe know as Venom opened to an incredible $80M at #1. That smashes the previous October opening record holder Gravity which set the bar at $55.7M in 2013. It's weird to think a superhero/villain film could ever be considered an underdog story (especially this year) but Venom might have been it. Fans of the film were first put on edge when Sony finally decided that the film would get a PG-13 rating which angered star of the film Tom Hardy who's been vocal about the cuts from the R-rated version. Then there was the awful critics reviews who trashed the film as one of the worst of the year. So while the film opened to $10M on Thursday there was nothing there that guaranteed an ending like this with a potential massive drop-off by Sunday. But the monster just kept growing and now it's become yet another huge success for the superhero genre."

James Bond will NEVER be a woman, says 007 producer

James Bond producer Barbara Broccoli has dismissed the possibility of any kind of gender switch happening for the famous spy agent. And yet, she believes a woman will eventually direct a film.

“Bond is male,” she said. “He’s a male character. He was written as a male and I think he’ll probably stay as a male."

“And that’s fine. We don’t have to turn male characters into women. Let’s just create more female characters and make the story fit those female characters.”

However, surely realizing what she just stated and trying to save face, Brocolli tried to defend the franchise by saying, hey, at least the supporting female characters are being depicted in a more 'current' way:

“But look at the way the world has changed. And I think Bond has come through and transformed with the times. I’ve tried to do my part, and I think particularly with the Daniel [Craig] films, they’ve become much more current in terms of the way women are viewed”
