Consider me surprised that reshoots for Rose Glass and A24’s “Love Lies Bleeding” have been underway for a few days now in New Mexico. That’s news to me.
The film, co-written by Glass and Weronika Tofilska, was shot last summer and had been tipped, by some, for a Cannes sidebar appearance, possibly Director’s Fortnight. I don’t think that’s a possibility now.
The film stars Kristen Stewart, Ed Harris and Dave Franco in a romantic thriller, set in the bodybuilding world, that examines a romance fueled by ego, desire and the American Dream. K-Stew plays the girlfriend of a woman determined to be a body-building champion whose life is altered by the usage of steroids.
Glass’ 2019 debut “Saint Maud” premiered at TIFF, where it gathered very good reviews and put Glass on the map as a filmmaker to watch. A24 produced that one as well, but it didn’t necessarily make as big of a splash Stateside as it did in Glass’ UK home turf.
