UPDATE: Reviews not looking good for “The Fix,” which is at 19% on Rotten Tomatoes. By the way, it hit theaters today, and eyeing an opening that could very well be under a million dollars. The theater count is still up for debate, and we’re still not sure if Inaugural Entertainment will make the numbers available.
EARLIER: Formerly titled “Hotel Tehran,” “The Fix” (trailer) was shot two years ago and is now finally about to be released.
The film is described as an action thriller, starring the odd pairing of Zachary Levi and Liam Neeson, and comes from Israeli director Guy Moshe, director of “LX 2048” and “Bunraku” — say what? The film was also shot in Mississippi, which is supposed to stand in for Iran in the movie.
The official description reads: “Hotel Tehran follows a group of war-torn CIA operators mentored by “Larry” (Neeson) and led by “Tucker” (Levi), who, after their mission in Afghanistan goes tragically wrong, enter the heart of Tehran to earn redemption by pulling off a daring rescue.”
Now comes more sketchy news, via Showbiz411’s Roger Friedman, that “The Fix” might have set a record for the number of production credits: 46 producers are listed! Yeah, maybe that is a record. It’ll take half the end credits to name them all.
In the spirit of the recent boom of smaller-scale distribution companies — Vertical, Briarcliff, Ketchup — Inaugural Entertainment was formed in 2025 by Kevin Weisberg and ex-BET executive Marvin Neil, and decided to take on “The Fix.” Actually, they’re partnering with Briarcliff on this one, which seems pretty par for the course.
This project comes a little over a year after Levi stated that his support for Donald Trump constituted “career suicide,” and it’s no doubt been a struggle since 2024 for the “Shazam” star, as he’s starred in low-key films such as “The Unbreakable Boy” and “Sarah’s Oil.” As for Neeson, he’s coming off “Naked Gun,” but has more or less been sticking to making these cheapie action movies such as “Ice Road 2,” “Absolution,” “Cold Storage” and “The Mongoose.”
If you’re willing to give “The Fix” a shot — and it’s apparently going wide, on over 1500 screens — it releases on September 11th, the 25th anniversary of 9/11.
The short version: "Woman Unknown" was a compromise. The jury deadlocked over "Possible Love" and "NAZA," not able to com to terms, fell back on their #3, May el-Toukhy's film.
