Netflix has decided to tease us, yet again, with another peek at David Fincher's Quentin Tarantino-scripted 'Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood' sequel.
Yet again, no trailer, but a tiny teaser, and finally a title: “The Further Mis-Adventures of Cliff Booth,” which is supposed to come out November 25 via IMAX release.
‘Cliff Booth’ needed “a few days” of reshoots this month. with Brad Pitt. The additional shooting—including the rebuilding of some large sets—is why ‘Cliff Booth’ has been absent from the fall festivals: the film simply isn’t ready.
Of additional interest, cinematographer Erik Messerschmidt is not part of the reshoots. He’s busy with Matt Reeves’ “The Batman Part II,” so Fincher has decided to go old school, with his longtime collaborating DP Jeff Cronenweth serving as cinematographer on the ‘Cliff Booth’ reshoots.
The film had actually wrapped its six-month production in January 2026, and it’s been in post for the last eight months. Fincher is well known for taking his time in the editing room, but the clock is now ticking, with less than four months left before its release and additional photography still set to take place.
Take it with a grain of salt, but Empire City Box Office recently hinted that the $200M ‘Cliff Booth’ was not testing well. Furthermore, The InSneider reported that Fincher was not happy with what he saw in the editing room. As I said, grain of salt — let’s just hope the film is ready in time for its November release.
No plot details have leaked about ‘Cliff Booth’ except that it’s set to take place a few years after Quentin Tarantino’s “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.” In addition to Pitt, the cast also includes Timothy Olyphant, Elizabeth Debicki, Scott Caan, Carla Gugino, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Peter Weller, and Holt McCallany.
Now, a Super Bowl spot also offered audiences a glimpse of ‘Cliff Booth.’ A polished, high-resolution version from Netflix is much needed though, which I suspect might be coming soon.
The short version: "Woman Unknown" was a compromise. The jury deadlocked over "Possible Love" and "NAZA," not able to com to terms, fell back on their #3, May el-Toukhy's film.
