‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ Sets Record-Breaking $355-$360M Opening, $927M Worldwide

August 2, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

EARLIER: Yes, I know — Sony is telling the trades that it’s a $355M opening, which is just $2M shy of the “Avengers: Endgame” record. I’m hearing it’s slightly higher than that, and will beat the record. This could just be a way for Sony to save the headlines for Monday morning.

Back in 2019, ‘Endgame’ was reported to have earned $350M on Sunday morning only to have the tally adjusted to $357M the following day. It’s a tactic to undersell for the big Monday headlines.

UPDATE: Some scoffed at me when I reported, a little less than two weeks ago, that “Spider-Man: Brand New Day” was tracking toward a potential $345M domestic opening. Well, I’ll admit it: I was wrong—it actually made MORE.

The latest update has ‘Brand New Day’ beating the all-time domestic opening weekend of “Avengers: Endgame” with a cumulative total of $360M. The final tally by the end of Sunday will either be slightly more or slightly less, but the record will be broken.

It’s not just North America that has Spidey fever. ‘Brand New Day’ is set to have a worldwide tally of $927M, which is more than any of the 11 Spider-Man movies made during their entire run, with the exception of ‘Far From Home’ and ‘No Way Home.’ It will probably pass the billion-dollar mark tomorrow.

‘Brand New Day’ director Daniel Destin Cretton must be ecstatic, since he’s already more than doubled the cumulative run of his last MCU movie, ‘Shang-Chi.’ In fact, ‘Brand New Day’ is already the 13th-highest-grossing Marvel movie of all time, out of 38 releases, and will climb much higher by next weekend.

In just four days, ‘Brand New Day’ has surpassed the box office total of “The Odyssey,” which hit $910M worldwide this weekend, and that’s without Spidey getting a single IMAX screen, all of which are currently vetoed by Christopher Nolan’s epic.
