Sacha Baron Cohen’s Secret Ali G Movie ‘Ali G: Who Iz I’ Set for October 23 Release From Amazon/MGM

July 22, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

UPDATE: More details have emerged about Sacha Baron Cohen’s secret Ali G movie.

Titled “Ali G: Who Iz I,” the film is set for a theatrical release from Amazon MGM Studios on October 23 and will mark Cohen’s feature directorial debut.

EARLIER: Sacha Baron Cohen was a comedy revolutionary in the early 2000s with “Da Ali G Show,” creating Borat, Brüno, and Ali G — characters who blurred the line between performance and reality, exposed people’s biases, and turned culture clashes into sharp social satire.

Back then, Cohen was hailed as a genius, the kind of force that could change humor forever. Now, he wants to dip his toes back into that territory.

Apparently, Cohen has shot a new Ali G movie. The InSneider is reporting that production has wrapped on the film, which was first reported on in 2023. There’s no clear indication of whether a studio is attached or if the movie is currently being shopped to buyers, but the film is complete, and we may get some news on it soon.

Save for Cohen being reportedly spotted in character in England in July and September of 2025, the film appears to have been shot in secret, with no trades reporting on the project.

Cohen has been dabbling in serious acting in recent years, including roles in Aaron Sorkin’s “Trial of the Chicago 7” and Alfonso Cuarón’s “Disclaimer.” This year, he starred in the Netflix comedy “Ladies First,” which, despite being widely panned, became a hit on the streaming platform. He doesn’t appear to have any other projects on the horizon, so perhaps the Ali G movie is, in fact, his next move.
