Ryan Reynolds Confirms ‘Deadpool 4’ in the Works ..

UPDATE: Ryan Reynolds has confirmed the inevitable: Deadpool 4 is very real.

According to THR, the actor appeared at Fanatics Fest 2026, where he told the crowd that the fourth film will feature “deep cuts” that were missing from the first three movies, adding, “It’s going to be great.”

EARLIER: What? You thought Marvel would just stick with three ‘Deadpool’ movies? No chance.

This is a full-blown juggernaut IP, and today’s news (via Puck) that Ryan Reynolds is currently working on “Deadpool 4” shouldn’t come as a shock to anyone paying attention. “Deadpool & Wolverine,” released in 2024, hauled in a staggering $1.33 billion worldwide, officially becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time — he’s one of Marvel’s most bankable characters.

For context, the first two ‘Deadpool’ movies each grossed around $780M worldwide—already massive numbers for R-rated superhero movies at the time. Since then, the franchise has only continued to grow in popularity through streaming, home media, and cultural staying power.

Given that trajectory, the idea that a fourth instalment is now in active development doesn’t just make sense—it feels inevitable. Save for maybe Spider-Man, I don’t think there’s a more bankable IP than Deadpool in the MCU canon.

What makes this even more remarkable is how unlikely this success story once seemed. “Green Lantern” had all but cratered Ryan Reynolds’ prospects, leaving his movie career on shaky ground. It was only his vehement persistence—bordering on obsession—in pushing Marvel to greenlight “Deadpool,” including the decision to leak footage of his screen test, that turned things around. That gamble helped save his career.

In the meantime, Deadpool will be appearing in “Avengers: Doomsday,” releasing in December, and Reynolds can also currently be seen in those recently leaked Blake Lively-Sony texts, where he calls Justin Baldoni “a human rounding error,” and labels Sony studio executives “fucking textbook, ineffectual elderly people…”
