Stop the presses. There is hope!
Scott Eastwood is skeptical of reports that his father, Clint Eastwood, has retired from filmmaking. While retirement speculation has grown around Eastwood, 96, Scott indicated that he has not received any confirmation from his father and remains unconvinced that his career is over.
Responding to comments made by his brother Kyle last November, Scott tells ScreenRant, “We’ll see. I have not heard that from his mouth at all,” adding, “So I don’t know what that feels like.”
Maybe he knows something we don’t. A project in the works, perhaps? Warner Bros., Eastwood’s home for more than 50 years, should include him in its current pre-Paramount auteur spending spree and give him $50M to do whatever the hell he wants — this time with a guaranteed theatrical release.
The retirement rumors began after Kyle Eastwood told a French audience last November, “Now he’s retired, he’s 95 years old,” while reminiscing about collaborating with his father on numerous films. Despite Kyle’s remarks, Scott’s comments suggest that, at least for now, there is still hope for one more film from the legendary filmmaker.
Known for his one-take directing style, Eastwood’s supposed final directorial effort was the 2024 legal thriller “Juror No. 2,” while his last on-screen appearance was in the 2021 western “Cry Macho.”
As Scott highlighted, his father’s body of work is staggering: “The work, the artistry that he’s done on and off screen. Producing, writing, composing, directing, acting.” There will never be another Clint Eastwood.
