After helming 2025’s “Warfare,” which he co-directed and co-wrote with Alex Garland for A24, Ray Mendoza has set up his next film as director. The project, titled “Blood on the Promontory,” is a Western based on a screenplay by Evan Cooper.
According to Deadline, the project is building an ensemble cast featuring Sam Worthington, Jai Courtney, Jack Quaid, Jaeden Martell, and LaMonica Garrett. The film has started production.
“Blood on the Promontory” follows five convicts who are forced to flee together after a violent train robbery, shackled to one another by the feet. As they attempt to escape through rugged mountain terrain, their journey becomes a survival-driven Western thriller shaped by constant tension, forced cooperation, and escalating conflict under extreme conditions.
