According to Deadline, Focus Features is re-teaming with rising horror filmmaker Curry Barker on a new film titled “Anything But Ghosts,” which has just wrapped shooting in Vancouver. The film stars Aaron Paul.
Story details remain tightly under wraps. Barker directs “Anything But Ghosts” and co-wrote the screenplay with collaborator Cooper Tomlinson. The project arrives as Barker’s breakout horror film “Obsession” builds momentum ahead of its May 15 release, after Focus acquired it out of TIFF Midnight Madness for over $15M.
This latest film comes after the recent announcement that Barker is also set to tackle a new version of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre” for A24 as writer and director. He is another hot indie genre filmmaker who has made the jump from YouTube to cinema.
Aaron Paul, best known for his Emmy-winning role as Jesse Pinkman in “Breaking Bad,” has won three Primetime Emmys. He later reprised the role in Netflix’s “El Camino.” His other credits include HBO’s “Westworld,” as well as films such as “Central Intelligence,” “Triple 9,” and “Exodus: Gods and Kings.”
