Obviously, SPOILERS here—especially when it comes to the image below this article. A new teaser for Steven Spielberg’s “Disclosure Day” has been shared on social media, and we now have our very—albeit brief—first peek at the film’s aliens.
Last week, Discussing Film reported from CinemaCon that Steven Spielberg had revealed he was purposely hiding “the entire third act of Disclosure Day” out of the marketing. He further teased:
All you need to get from the beginning to the end (of this movie) is a seatbelt.
The film centers on the hidden presence of extraterrestrials living among humans, with Colin Firth’s character trying to conceal the truth using advanced mind-linked technology while fearing global disruption if it’s exposed. Emily Blunt’s character exhibits strange, unexplained behaviors as she seeks to uncover the truth, and Josh O’Connor’s character claims he can interpret her signals. The teaser blends thriller elements and fragmented memories, ending with a glimpse of an alien spacecraft emerging through the clouds.
The ensemble cast includes Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colin Firth, Eve Hewson, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Henry Lloyd-Hughes, with Steven Spielberg crafting the film’s original sci-fi concept alongside longtime collaborator and screenwriter David Koepp (“Jurassic Park”).
Ever since 2008’s “War of the Worlds,” Steven Spielberg has largely stayed away from sci-fi, only returning once with “Ready Player One”—just a single film in 17 years. Spielberg has mostly focused on prestige dramas, including “Lincoln,” “Bridge of Spies,” “War Horse,” “The Post,” and “The Fabelmans.”
“Disclosure Day” hits theaters on June 12.
