Here’s Deadline reporting that two-time Oscar nominee Melissa McCarthy and Connor Storrie are in talks to star in “Turpentine,” a new thriller directed by Craig Zobel.
The script, written by Justin Varava and featured on the 2024 Black List, follows a “deadbeat son who hires friends to rob his own parents to pay off a bookie, with disastrous results.”
Storrie rose to prominence for his breakout role as Ilya Rozanov in the 2025 sports romance series “Heated Rivalry.” Before that, he had smaller roles in film and television, including a brief appearance in “Joker: Folie à Deux.” McCarthy is best known for “Bridesmaids,” “Spy,” “The Heat,” and “Can You Ever Forgive Me?”
Zobel broke out with the indie films “Compliance” and “Z for Zachariah,” went on to direct 2020’s “The Hunt,” and also transitioned to a successful career in prestige television, with credits on “Westworld,” “Mare of Easttown,” “The Leftovers,” and “The Penguin.”
