Here’s our first trailer for Ridley Scott’s “The Dog Stars.” What do you think? This is Jacob Elordi’s first true lead role in a movie, and he’s joined by Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce, and Benedict Wong. I’ve already written about this film twice in the past week — here and here.
Ridley Scott, 88, is coming off “House of Gucci,” “Napoleon,” and “Gladiator II.” He’s a workhorse with a fascinating filmography, filled with an eclectic batch of films, both good and bad — if you want a deeper dive into it, here’s a critics’ poll I conducted tackling his best and worst.
“The Dog Stars,” produced and distributed by 20th Century, is set to hit theaters on August 28. Not the most confident looking date, the film has been quietly positioned rather than loudly sold, which usually suggests a studio still calibrating expectations rather than pushing a sure thing. That said, never bet against Ridley Scott.
