Marvel’s ‘X-Men’ Reboot Rumors: Odessa A’zion Eyed for Rogue, Peter Claffey for Beast

April 10, 2026 Jordan Ruimy

We already know that Sadie Sink is expected to be Jean Grey in Marvel’s “X-Men” reboot, and that casting for other X-Men roles is currently underway on the Jake Schreier-directed film.

Jeff Sneider, speaking on “The Hot Mic,” reports that several actors are being eyed for roles in “X-Men.” Specifically, “Marty Supreme” actress Odessa A’zion is reportedly being considered for Rogue. Good news for her — Rogue was never written as a Jewish-Mexican character.

If you remember, Margaret Qualley was originally rumored to play Rogue, but things might have changed since then, and with A’zion commanding a far less pricey salary, Marvel may have shifted its focus toward her — although Qualley seems to be a better fit, at least to my eyes.

Then there’s also Peter Claffey (“A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms”), who is “in the mix” for Beast. Other rumored names over the past few months include Julia Butters being eyed for Kitty Pryde and Jack Champion for Cyclops.

Previously, Michael Lesslie — known for “The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes” and “Now You See Me: Now You Don’t” — was scripting the film, revising an earlier draft by Aaron Rabin and Zach Dean. It now appears the screenplay is being rewritten by “Beef” creator Lee Sung Jin and “The Bear” writer and co-showrunner Joanna Calo.

No release date has been set for this “X-Men” reboot, but Marvel currently has three release dates lined up for 2028 — May 5, July 28, and December 15. That said, Sneider also suggests the project likely won’t be the next film to begin production once “Avengers: Secret Wars” is finished. Rather, the next film to move into production could be another “Deadpool” installment, with Shawn Levy returning to direct.

If that turns out to be the case, Marvel’s 2028 lineup could potentially include “Deadpool 4,” “X-Men,” and “Black Panther 3.”
