An update regarding Todd Haynes’ “De Noche,” a detective noir starring Pedro Pascal and Danny Ramirez, which started production this month: it has added a very interesting cinematographer.
Originally, Maryse Alberti was attached, but now Michael Dymek has replaced her. Dymek, 35, has lensed acclaimed works such as “EO,” “The Girl With the Needle,” “A Real Pain,” and “Good Boy.”
Haynes’ longtime collaborator, cinematographer Edward Lachman, will again not be taking part in this latest project. He had to bow out of “May December” after breaking his hip, but he is currently shooting Midi Z’s English-language debut, starring Sam Worthington and David Duchovny.
“De Noche” is a detective noir co-written by Jon Raymond, set in 1930s L.A. and Mexico. It has been described by Haynes as a “button pusher” that could warrant an NC-17 rating. A Cannes 2027 premiere is no doubt being eyed for the film.
