The latest rumor has Viggo Mortensen being offered a role, most likely Christopher Dent, in Matt Reeves’ “The Batman: Part II.” This intel comes to us—albeit cryptically—from Bill Ramsey, who runs Batman On Film.
Can we just cast this part already, for crissakes? Nearly all of the major roles in “The Batman: Part II” have been cast, with the exception of Christopher Dent. Mortensen’s rumored offer comes after Brad Pitt, Stellan Skarsgaard, and Daniel Craig passed on the role.
Quite frankly, adding Mortensen to any cast, in any movie, elevates the material at hand — I actually hope this rumor turns out to be true. While we’re at it, I’m hearing Mortensen has the lead role in David Cronenberg’s “Consumed,” that is, if the film is able to find financing, which might be an uphill battle.
The sequel, which is being directed by Reeves, is expected to start production on May 29 in London. So far, the cast assembled is very promising: Robert Pattinson, Scarlett Johansson, Sebastian Stan, Jeffrey Wright, Colin Farrell, Barry Keoghan, Paul Dano, and Andy Serkis. The only major actor missing is the person who will play Christopher Dent.
