John Krasinski is officially set to direct “A Quiet Place 3,” which Paramount has dated for next year. This will be Krasinski’s sixth directorial effort, including three ‘Quiet Place’ movies, and his last one, the 2024 fantasy comedy “If.”
Here comes news that Jack O’Connell, Jason Clarke, and Katy O’Brian have joined the cast, which already included Emily Blunt, Cillian Murphy, Millicent Simmons, and Noah Jupe. That’s a lot of talent.
O’Connell has proven himself as one of the more fearless actors of his generation, delivering powerful performances across a range of intense films. His credits include “Starred Up,” “’71,” “Sinners,” and “28 Years Later,” all worthy of attention.
The potential titles are endless for this third chapter in the shushing franchise, and Paramount seems set on “A Quiet Place: Part 3,” although I would have preferably gone with “A Qui3t Plac3.”
Whatever the title, one thing is certain: this franchise is now milking the IP for everything it’s worth. Who was asking for a third ‘Quiet Place’? This was a one-movie idea.
“A Quiet Place,” released in 2018, was a strong directorial effort from Krasinski. It even made my top 15 list that year. The second one, released three years later, was mediocre. Then we got the prequel, Michael Sarnoski’s “A Quiet Place: Day One,” which wasn’t bad and took us back to when the alien invasion first started.
Bryan Woods and Scott Beck are back as writers. They had both passed on the second installment and the spin-off, so that’s good news. “A Quiet Place: Part 3” is set to hit theaters on July 9, 2027.
